Not almost as bad as the other reviews imply, November 30, 2003

This is a good blender. It crushes ice fine (although you must add liquid to create a vortex and move the pieces around) and hasn’t died yet. Out of the box, it does not leak. Yes, it will leak liquid but only if you do not install replacement blades correctly. If you do not hear two clicks when seating the blade assembly, the gasket will not absolutely seal the assembly. Read the manual. Its not that hard to use and the replacement blades are a very nice feature. I am giving it 4 stars because blade replacement is not as obvious as it should be without reading the manual.

T-Fal Blender Fails to Live Up to Expectations, January 13, 2004

I recently purchased the T-Fal Avante 12 speed blender at a local wholesale store. I thought the price was very reasonable at only . It seems to be or higher everywhere else I look. The seal did NOT seal the first time I used the machine (yes, I heard two sturdy clicks when inserting the blades) and I had a BIG mess to clean up. The machine gives the impression of being strong and capable of blending fast and easy. Unfortunately, the highest speed is not that much better than the slowest speed. I am impressed with the size and strength of the glass container. It seems to me that it would last a long time and remain looking good. My first blender was purchased almost 12 years ago and still works. My blades were getting pretty dull, but I did not want to order new ones for a machine that might "die" soon. I wish I had just purchased new blades and took a chance with it. I will keep this blender, but I will not advocate it to family and friends. I have purchased many T-Fal products in the past and have always liked the quality, but this product does not live up to the brands good name. I give it 3 stars.

What a piece of junk!

I bought two of these to stock a Tiki Bar specifically because the promotional info raved about its power, for smooth-blending and ice-crushing for drinks. They were about .00 each, which seemed a fair price if they performed as described. I read the directions, but one of the two blenders NEVER WORKED AT ALL, no matter how the jar was “seated” or the blades installed or the number of “clicks” heard when putting the blade component together. I took that one back. The other one worked about 6 times, and THEN went dead while blending already-crushed ice and mango juice! So much for the better power and the special ice-crushing blades! DON’T BUY THIS BLENDER, even if it’s dirt cheap. Read the reviews!
