The product was fantastic in the beginning, but the copper-plated dime-sized disc that I presume generates the sonic waves to break apart the water began to shed its copper plating.
I only use bleach and water to clean it. Never ever use soaps. I still get cold moisture out of the humidifier if I add salt to the water although. At least the salt helps preserve the humidifier clean of mold and mildew as all humidifiers get.
As for the alarm when the water is reduced, it is not as loud as other reviews have stated. It is about 1/3 to 1/two the decibals of a affordable fire alarm.
I like the humidifier, but I do not like the copper-plating loss.
